The Laboratory of Wood Anatomy and Quality is used for the accomplishment of practical lessons in the course of graduation in Forest Engineering and as support for scientific research of professors and postgraduation students. The performance area involves the anatomical characterization of forest species,the study of the anatomical structure of the wood aiming at its correct use and the impact of the anatomical characteristics in the wood technological properties.
The infrastructure of our laboratory counts on the following equipment and materials:
- optic microscopes binocular OLYMPUS® CX 40
- optic microscopes monoculares DEXTER
- binocular magnifying glass ZEISS, model STEMI 2000-C
- binocular magnifying glass OLYMPUS® SZ-ET
- microtome
- xiloteca I approximately contend a collection of 7,500 wood samples of diverse regions of the world
- great collection of wood blades
- oven for sterilization and drying NOVA TECNICA NT 513
- sterilizer SERCON AHMC 5
